How Does Ichthammol Work?
Ichthammol and zinc oxide are frequently used dermatological medication in children (because they are safe when applied long-term. Ichthammol is a mixture of substances acquired from sulphonation of bituminous oils. Traditionally, it was acquired by distilling fossil shale. It has anti-itch, anti-inflammatory keratoplastic, anti-seborrheic and mildly anti-septic effects. It is slightly irritating, it has low sensibilization potential, it does not sensitize the skin when exposed to light, but it has an unpleasant, distinct odour and a brown-black colour. Ichthammol is used to treat subacute forms of eczema (mainly atopic), seborrheic and perioral dermatitis, acute psoriasis outbreaks, lichen ruber planus, pityriasis rosea and acne vulgaris. Ichthammol has a similar favourable therapeutic effect to pix lithantracis (coal tar) but it does not have the adverse effects (toxic on the liver and kidneys, locally cancerogenic when used long-term in higher concentrations).

How Does Dermosoft® decalact liquid MB Work?
Chemically, it is a combination of caproyl lactate and triethyl citrate. Both substances are made of 100% natural ingredients. The antimicrobial effect is optimized so that it specifically acts against microorganisms that cause skin problems, like dandruff, acne, athlete’s foot or skin odour. It acts on yeast – Candida albicans, fungi – Trichophyton, pityrosporum pathogens – Malassezia furfur and gram+ bacteria – Cutibacterium acnes (formerly Propionibacterium acnes) and Corynebacterium xerosis. Dermosoft® decalact is easily biodegradable. It has not been tested on animals. It has the Ecocert protection seal, which means it is made of ingredients that come from controlled ecological agriculture.

How to Use Ichtacolor® paste:
Always wash and dry the face before use. Ideally, use a medicinal anti-septic, sodium lauryl sulphate-free soap (ex. Cutosan® wash gel). Apply a thin layer, 2-3 times a day on the entire treated area. The product can be applied on newborns. It slightly dries out the treated areas. Therefore, we recommend combining it with regular treatment using soothing emollients (ex. Calcis®).
